Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features the large numeral '5' prominently in the upper centre of the field, flanked on the right by an ornamental floral spray rendered in low relief. Below the denomination numeral, the Cyrillic legend 'РУБЛЕЙ' (Roubles) appears in a straight line, followed beneath by 'БАНК РОССИИ' (Bank of Russia) and the date '2016'. Decorative scrollwork ornaments occupy the lower left and lower right of the field, lending the design a balanced, classically restrained aesthetic. The mint mark 'ММД' (Moscow Mint) appears discreetly to the right side of the floral motif.

Aanvullende informatie

This piece belongs to the "Cities of Military Glory" series, a prolonged Russian Federation program honoring locations awarded the honorary title established by presidential decree in 2006. Warsaw is a peculiar inclusion — the title commemorates the January 1945 Soviet offensive that drove German forces from the Polish capital, a campaign the Russian state frames as liberation but which Polish historiography treats with considerably more ambiguity, given that it inaugurated decades of Soviet-backed occupation.
