Reverse description Central intaglio vignette of the Imperial Russian coat of arms, with the double-headed eagle surmounted by an imperial crown and flanked by elaborate oak and laurel branches, sceptre, orb, and military trophies, all set against a fine guilloche background. Numeral 5 appears in each corner, with ПЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ in bold lettering at foot, and a rectangular cartouche at lower centre bearing the Cyrillic statutory warning against counterfeiting. The Chaikovskiy Government validation perforations are visible across the upper portion of the design.
