Obverse description The note is printed in blue on pale salmon paper with an elaborate foliate and scrollwork border incorporating numeral 5 medallions at each corner. At the upper centre, the Soviet arms vignette is flanked by decorative griffins and ribbon banners bearing the workers' slogan. Below, the issuing authority inscription appears in Cyrillic across multiple lines, followed by the date 1918. The denomination ПЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ is set in large display typeface at centre, with three facsimile signature lines of the Chairman, Finance Commissar, and Treasurer printed at the lower portion.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in blue on salmon paper and centres on a large bold numeral 5 occupying most of the field, overlaid with two lines of Cyrillic legal text stating the note's issue basis and the penalty for counterfeiting. At the upper centre, a scroll cartouche bears the workers' solidarity slogan.
