Obverse description Right-facing draped and crowned bust of Empress Catherine II, her hair elaborately dressed and adorned with a diadem, engraved in high relief with fine baroque detailing. The empress wears imperial robes with visible ornamentation at the shoulder and a pearl necklace at the throat. The mint mark СПБ (St. Petersburg Mint) appears in the lower field beneath the truncation. A Cyrillic legend encircles the effigy, reading: Б·М·ЕКАТЕРИНА·II·ІМП·IСАМОД·ВСЕРОС, abbreviated for 'By the Grace of God, Catherine II, Empress and Autocrat of All Russia'.
