| Obverse description | The Soviet State Coat of Arms appears in an ornate frame at upper left, with a finely engraved intaglio vignette of the Spasskaya Tower of the Moscow Kremlin occupying the centre-left of the note. To the right, a large guilloche oval cartouche carries the numeral '5' as an underprint behind the Cyrillic denomination 'ПЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ' in bold letterpress, with additional decorative guilloche panels below. The upper panel bears the title inscription in Cyrillic, and a smaller guilloche numeral '5' appears at lower right within a scalloped border. |
