| Additional information |
Ajman was the smallest and least financially solvent of the Trucial States, and its early 1970s coinage program was nakedly a revenue scheme — produced almost entirely for sale to collectors rather than circulation. These issues were authorized under the rule of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi and struck in European mints for export, with Ajman receiving a licensing fee per piece. The "Rashid George Marshall" designation refers to a commemorative honoring George Marshall, the American general and architect of the postwar European Recovery Program.
Actual circulation in Ajman was effectively zero. The UAE dirham replaced all Trucial State issues upon federation in 1973.
