Aanvullende informatie

Ajman, smallest of the Trucial States with a population barely exceeding 4,000 at the time, issued this piece under Ruler Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi as part of the 1970 FAO coin program — a United Nations initiative encouraging member nations to mint agricultural-themed coinage meant to raise awareness of global food production. The Trucial States were not yet a federation; the UAE would not form until December 1971, meaning this coin was issued by a polity that ceased to exist as a sovereign entity within eighteen months of striking.

Many Ajman issues of this period were produced speculatively for the collector market rather than circulation, with mintages controlled by outside agencies rather than the ruler's treasury.
