Qatar's Central Bank has issued a number of commemorative silver pieces in recent years tied to the country's accelerating international profile, most visibly the 2022 FIFA World Cup — the first held in the Middle East and the first in November–December rather than the traditional summer schedule, shifted to avoid Qatar's extreme summer heat.
