Obverse description Central raised circle encloses the denomination inscribed vertically in Chinese characters (五厘, 'Five Rin'). Surrounding the central circle, the authority legend reads 大日本 ('Great Japan') across the upper arc, with the regnal date 大正五年 ('Taishō Year 5') arranged along the lower arc. The entire design is framed by a continuous milled border of fine beads. The field between the inner circle and the outer legend shows two small raised dots at the mid-left and mid-right positions.
