| Reverse description | The national emblem of the Sultanate of Oman occupies the central field, comprising a khanjar (traditional curved dagger) within its sheath superimposed upon two crossed swords, all rendered in fine relief. The emblem is the official heraldic device of the Sultanate as established under Sultan Qaboos. Surrounding legends in Arabic and Latin identify the issuing state and denomination. |

Issued to mark the 25th National Day of Oman in 1995, this piece commemorates Sultan Qaboos bin Said's consolidation of a modern state from what had been, at his 1970 accession, one of the most isolated and underdeveloped nations in the Gulf — fewer than ten kilometers of paved road in the entire country at the time. The Burj Al Sahwa, or Tower of Awakening, in Muscat was itself completed in 1990 as a deliberate architectural symbol of that transformation.
The .916 gold specification aligns with the traditional 22-karat standard favored across Gulf commemorative issues of this period.
