The Yemen Arab Republic's Central Bank issued this note in 1969, just over a decade after the Imamate was overthrown in the 1962 revolution. Bradbury Wilkinson, working from their New Malden facility, were among the most prolific suppliers of currency to newly established Arab states during this period — their client list in the 1960s reads like a register of post-colonial monetary transitions.

Pick 7 is the second signature variety in the series. Watermark-only security was already considered minimal by international standards at the time of issue, though Yemen's geographic isolation kept counterfeiting pressure low throughout the early republican years.
