| Obverse description | Heraldic eagle displayed with wings spread, head turned to the right, perched above a plain wreath-encircled ring without swastika — a deliberate omission reflecting the Allied Occupation period. The legend DEUTSCHES REICH curves around the upper periphery in Gothic (Fraktur) script, with the date 1947 positioned in the lower field. The design closely follows the wartime Reichspfennig type but with the swastika removed from the breast shield and the wreath ring left empty. |
