Obverse description A stylized Imperial Eagle displayed upon a shield occupies the central field, its wings spread and rendered in a bold Art Deco style characteristic of Weimar-era coinage. A repeating trifolium (trefoil) pattern fills the background field, providing decorative texture behind the eagle. The mint mark appears above the eagle's head. The circular legend reads DEUTSCHES REICH along the upper periphery and FUNF REICHSMARK along the lower periphery, all within a beaded border.
