Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing bust of Ernst Bassermann, the German National Liberal politician, rendered in high relief with finely detailed facial features including a prominent moustache and period civilian attire with a collar and cravat. The legend encircles the bust along the inner rim, reading ERNST BASSERMANN above and the birth and death years 1854 - 1917 to the right, with the name continuing below. The portrait is executed in a naturalistic, medallic style characteristic of early twentieth-century German commemorative coinage.
