Obverse description The obverse is headed by a large bold overprint reading BILLETE PROVISIONAL across the upper portion of the note. To the left, a large numeral 5 appears within an ornate frame alongside the denomination in abbreviated form. The central vignette presents an intaglio scene of travelers on horseback through a mountain pass, flanked to the right by a portrait medallion of a classical male figure in profile, with two manuscript signatures of the Gerentes below. At the foot of the note, a small locomotive vignette is set within a guilloche underprint, and the full denomination CINCO REALES DE INCA is inscribed along the lower margin.
