Beschrijving keerzijde Central device depicts an architectural composition referencing the historic centre of Salvador, Bahia, featuring a prominent elevator shaft — evoking the iconic Lacerda Elevator — flanked by a colonial-era building facade to the left and a neoclassical public building with surrounding trees to the right, all rendered in precise low relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The curved upper legend reads 'PATRIMÔNIO DA HUMANIDADE - UNESCO', arcing from left to right along the upper rim. Below the central design, the inscription 'SALVADOR' appears above the date '2015', both centrally placed near the lower rim.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued as part of Brazil's extensive commemorative program surrounding the 2014 FIFA World Cup host city series, this Salvador piece honors one of the twelve venues used across the tournament. The Casa da Moeda do Brasil produced these in relatively modest quantities compared to the broader Olympic silver programs that would follow within the year, leaving the World Cup city issues somewhat overshadowed in collector attention almost immediately upon release.

Salvador's Estádio Fonte Nova was rebuilt entirely from the ground up for the 2014 tournament, replacing the collapsed original structure that had been partially demolished in 2010 after being condemned.
