South Africa's wine industry, centered in the Western Cape, has been a point of national pride since the late 17th century when Huguenot refugees brought viticultural expertise to the Cape Colony. This coin belongs to a colourized bullion and commemorative program the South African Mint has used to spotlight cultural heritage — the applied color being a post-strike addition that technically removes these pieces from competitive grading at most major services.
