| Obverse description | The obverse features a finely detailed, centrally placed protea flower in full bloom, rendered in high relief with intricately engraved petals radiating outward from a prominent central boss. The legend SOUTH AFRICA arcs along the upper periphery in bold Latin lettering, while the year of issue 2007 is inscribed in the lower field beneath the floral motif. The engraver's initials ALS appear discreetly in the lower field. The design is executed in proof finish, with deeply mirrored fields contrasting against the frosted relief of the protea, characteristic of South African Mint gold proof coinage. |
