Obverse description The Cedar of Lebanon, national symbol of the republic, depicted in high relief at centre, with its characteristic tiered spreading branches and broad trunk rising from the base. The Arabic numeral '5' appears to the upper left and the denomination legend '٥ قروش' (5 Qirush) arcs across the upper field. The legend 'الجمهورية اللبنانية' (Lebanese Republic) curves around the lower periphery, flanked by a six-pointed star to the left and a five-pointed star to the right. The date in Eastern Arabic numerals appears below the tree, and the whole design is enclosed within a beaded border.

The large numeral '5' appears to the upper left, and the legend '5 PIASTRES' arcs across the upper field. The circular legend 'REPUBLIQUE LIBANAISE' (Lebanese Republic) runs around the lower periphery, with a five-pointed star to the upper right and a five-pointed star to the upper left flanking the denomination. The date appears in the lower exergual area, flanked by small decorative ornaments, and the design is enclosed within a beaded border.
