| Obverse description | Central field bears the large Arabic numeral '٥' (5) in high relief. The circular Arabic legend 'جمهورية مصر العربية' (Arab Republic of Egypt) arcs around the upper portion of the field, while the denomination '٥ قروش' (5 Piastres) appears in the lower field. Dual dates in Arabic-Indic and Western numerals — Hijri year '١٣٩٣' and Gregorian year '١٩٧٣' — flank the central numeral at mid-field. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |

Egypt's Cairo International Fair had been running since 1926, but the 1973 commemorative issue arrived in a charged year — the October War against Israel launched just months after this coin entered production planning. That the fair itself continued as a symbol of Egyptian economic ambition while the country was simultaneously preparing for its largest military operation since 1967 gives the issue an unintentional historical weight no mint record will document.
