The Fu-Nan Monetary Bureau (阜南官錢局) was one of several provincial monetary authorities established during the late Qing reform period, as Beijing's grip on regional currency production continued to fracture. Hunan operated semi-independently in monetary matters for much of this era, and bullion coinage of this type circulated alongside both official Qing issues and foreign trade dollars in the province's interior markets.
Kann 947 is scarce in any grade. The Fu-Nan bureau had a short operational window, and its silver output was limited compared to the major provincial mints at Wuhan or Canton.
