正面描述 The flat field displays six boldly engraved Chinese characters arranged in two rows of three, reading 長沙乾 / 益字號 (Changsha Chien-Yi Firm), identifying the issuing silver shop. The inscription is rendered in a fluid, brushwork-influenced style characteristic of late Qing private bullion issues. The field is enclosed within a plain inner circle, itself surrounded by a prominent outer border of raised beads. The surfaces show the typical irregular texture of hand-struck or cast private silver production.

附加信息

The Chien-Yi Firm (乾益字號) was one of several Changsha money shops that issued private silver bullion pieces in the final years of the Qing dynasty, filling a practical gap left by the inconsistent output of official provincial mints. These shop issues circulated locally on trust — the issuing firm's reputation functioning as the guarantee of fineness — and were routinely accepted in Hunan commercial transactions where standardized coinage was scarce. Most were melted once the Republic consolidated monetary policy after 1912, which explains the rarity of survivors today.
