Beschrijving voorzijde	The obverse features the large numeral '5' prominently displayed in the center of the field, with the denomination 'qəpik' inscribed in smaller lettering below. The circular legend 'AZƏRBAYCANRESPUBLİKASI' (Republic of Azerbaijan) runs along the entire periphery in Latin script, interrupted by a raised dot at the top. The design is simple and utilitarian, characteristic of the early post-Soviet Azerbaijani coinage series struck in aluminium.

The aluminium composition reflects both cost constraints and the hyperinflationary environment of the early post-Soviet transition, during which the manat itself lost value rapidly against the dollar throughout the mid-1990s.
