Obverse description The national coat of arms of Botswana occupies the central field, featuring a vertically oriented shield quartered with cogwheels and wavy lines representing industry and water, surmounted by a bull's head. The shield is supported on the dexter by a zebra and on the sinister by a second zebra, both rampant. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto PULA in raised letters. The country name BOTSWANA arcs along the upper legend, with the date 1978 and the word IPELEGENG inscribed in the lower field.
