正面描述 The obverse displays the coat of arms of Botswana at centre, featuring a vertically-oriented shield charged with three interlocking cogwheels above wavy lines symbolising water, with a bull's head at the base. Two zebras serve as supporters on either side, each rearing on its hind legs. A scroll below the shield bears the national motto PULA in the field. The country name BOTSWANA arcs along the upper legend, with the date 1981 and the Setswana word IPELEGENG (meaning self-reliance) inscribed in the lower field.

附加信息

Issued as part of the International Year of Disabled Persons, declared by the United Nations for 1981, this proof was one of the earliest commemorative strikes from the Bank of Botswana. Botswana's commemorative coinage program was still nascent at this point — the country had only introduced the pula in 1976 following the transition away from the rand zone.

KM#P1 designation places it as the first catalogued proof issue for the series, though mintage figures remain poorly documented in the standard references.
