Reverse description A three-dimensional rendition of the ancient Egyptian faience hippopotamus statuette known as Ta-Weret, depicted in profile facing right and standing upon a rectangular plinth. The body of the hippopotamus is decorated with incised motifs drawn from ancient Egyptian iconography, including lotus flowers, papyrus plants, and geometric patterns, faithfully reproducing the style of Middle Kingdom faience figurines. The deeply sculpted relief contrasts with the mirror-polished proof field, emphasising the sculptural quality of the design. A fine beaded border encircles the reverse field. No inscriptions appear on the reverse.
