Reverse description A highly detailed architectural view of the entrance pylon of the Temple of Luxor (ancient Thebes) dominates the reverse field. Two massive seated colossal statues of Ramesses II are depicted flanking the monumental gateway, the left figure shown frontally and the right in three-quarter view, each wearing the double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt. Behind the statues, tall papyrus-bundle columns and the partially ruined pylon walls rise dramatically, conveying the grandeur of the ancient sanctuary. The scene fills the entire field without inscription, relying solely on the architectural and sculptural imagery rendered in finely engraved proof relief.
