Two massive seated colossal statues of Ramesses II are depicted flanking the monumental gateway, the left figure shown frontally and the right in three-quarter view, each wearing the double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt. Behind the statues, tall papyrus-bundle columns and the partially ruined pylon walls rise dramatically, conveying the grandeur of the ancient sanctuary.
