Beschrijving voorzijde Central field features the Eagle of Saladin, the national emblem of Egypt, rendered in ancient Egyptian style with wings spread wide and head turned to the right, flanked by the denomination '5 LE' in Latin numerals to the left and '٥ جنيهات' in Arabic script to the right. Above the eagle, the country name 'جمهورية مصر العربية' is inscribed in stylized Arabic calligraphy, surmounted by a lotus flower finial. The abbreviated legend 'A·R·E' appears across the eagle's body. The dual dates '1414-1993' in Arabic and Western numerals are inscribed along the lower left and lower right of the field respectively, with a decorative segmented border encircling the entire design.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a highly detailed, sculpted view of the Great Sphinx of Giza in three-quarter perspective, dominating the central field against a deeply mirrored proof background. The Sphinx's leonine body reclines in profile while the human head faces forward, rendered with fine detail including the nemes headdress and facial features. Two pyramids of the Giza necropolis rise prominently behind the Sphinx — one to the left and one to the right — their stone courses carefully engraved. No legends or inscriptions appear on the reverse, allowing the monumental ancient motif to fill the field entirely, framed by the same segmented decorative border as the obverse.
