| Descripción del anverso | Central field dominated by an ornate interlaced Arabic calligraphic design flanked by two stylised flaming torch motifs on either side. The denomination appears in both Western Arabic numerals (5) and Eastern Arabic numerals (٥) at upper left and right respectively, with the word POUNDS in Latin script below the Western numeral and the Arabic equivalent جنيهات to its right. The full Arabic name of the issuing state, الجمهورية العربية المصرية (Arab Republic of Egypt), is rendered in interlaced Kufic-style calligraphy across the central field. The date 1999 appears at upper left in Latin numerals and ١٩٩٩ in Eastern Arabic numerals at upper right, flanking a stylised torch finial. The legend A.R.E. is inscribed along the lower rim in Latin letters, and the design is contained within a beaded inner border. |

| Descripción del reverso | The reverse features a finely detailed rendering of the twin colossal seated statues of Ramesses II (Ramses II), depicted in the traditional pharaonic manner wearing the nemes headdress and false beard, their hands resting upon their knees. The two figures are seated side by side upon a shared throne base, the sides of which are covered with incised hieroglyphic cartouches and inscriptions. Small subsidiary figures are visible at the sides of the thrones. The composition fills the central field, framed by a beaded inner border, with the smooth proof fields providing strong contrast to the richly textured sculptural relief. |
