| Obverse description | Central device depicting a stylised Egyptian vulture displayed with wings spread and talons visible, rendered in an ancient Egyptian artistic style. Above the bird, a lotus flower ornament occupies the upper field. The Arabic legend 'جمهورية مصر العربية' (Arabic Republic of Egypt) is inscribed in two lines above the central device, flanked on either side by the denomination '5 LE' in Latin numerals to the left and its Arabic equivalent 'جـ ٥' to the right.
