Obverse description Central device depicting a stylised Egyptian vulture displayed with wings spread and talons visible, rendered in an ancient Egyptian artistic style. Above the bird, a lotus flower ornament occupies the upper field. The Arabic legend 'جمهورية مصر العربية' (Arabic Republic of Egypt) is inscribed in two lines above the central device, flanked on either side by the denomination '5 LE' in Latin numerals to the left and its Arabic equivalent 'جـ ٥' to the right. The abbreviation 'A·R·E' appears in the centre field above the vulture. Dual dating is presented vertically along both sides of the field: the Gregorian year '1994' and Hijri year '1415' to the left in Latin numerals, and their Arabic-script equivalents '١٩٩٤' and '١٤١٥' to the right. The mint mark 'E / CC' appears in the lower exergue.
