| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in blue-grey tones and carries the heading ORANGE FREE STATE ISSUE above the issuer's name AFRICAN BANKING CORPORATION LIMITED in bold arched lettering. A central oval vignette presents a springbok grazing in a landscape, framed by ornate guilloche scrollwork, with the denomination FIVE POUNDS rendered in intaglio script across the centre.
