Obverse description Central field bears a prominent Arabic calligraphic inscription rendered in an ornate, interlocking Thuluth script style, occupying the majority of the field. The legend reads 'جمهورية مصر العربية' (Arab Republic of Egypt) along the upper border within a decorative geometric frame, with the denomination 'خمسة جنيهات' (Five Pounds) and the dual dating in both Hijri (١٤١٢) and Gregorian (١٩٩١) numerals inscribed below. The entire design is enclosed within a stepped and beaded decorative inner border, with an additional reeded outer rim. The overall artistic style is characteristic of Egyptian commemorative coinage of the late twentieth century.
