Additional information

The Moharram Printing Press, established in Alexandria, was Egypt's primary security printing facility and played a central role in producing the country's banknotes and official documents throughout the twentieth century. This commemorative issue was part of a broader CBE program in the mid-1980s that used .720 silver coins to mark institutions of national industrial and economic significance — a format Egypt leaned on heavily during a period when hard currency reserves were under strain and silver commemoratives served a quiet export function as much as a domestic one.
