Issued to mark the centenary of the Egyptian Ministry of Health, founded in 1886 under Khedive Tewfik. Egypt's commemorative silver program of the 1980s was prolific to the point of diluting collector interest, and many issues from this period were struck in quantities exceeding genuine numismatic demand — distributed through state channels and largely absorbed by institutional buyers rather than the open market.
