| 正面描述 | Central field features the denomination numeral '5' in Eastern Arabic script above the Arabic word 'جنيهات' (Pounds), with a prominent tughra-style calligraphic emblem of the Arab Republic of Egypt occupying the lower left portion of the field. An Arabic commemorative legend arcs around the upper periphery reading 'العيد الماسي لوزارة الزراعة' (Diamond Anniversary of the Ministry of Agriculture), with the Hijri year '١٤٠٩' at left and the Gregorian year '١٩٨٨' at lower centre. The border is composed of a decorative reeded and patterned inner rim. |

Egypt issued this piece to mark the centenary of the Ministry of Agriculture, an institution established under Khedive Tewfik in 1884 to consolidate control over the Nile Delta's cotton economy — at the time generating roughly 90% of Egypt's export revenue. The four-year lag between the centenary and the coin's actual release was not unusual for Egyptian commemorative programming of the 1980s, a decade in which the government's minting schedule frequently slipped against competing economic pressures following the Camp David realignment and the loss of Gulf aid flows.
