Reverse description The reverse presents a finely detailed relief reproduction of the ancient Egyptian seated statue of Pharaoh Khasekhemwy, last ruler of the Second Dynasty, depicted in profile facing right. The king is shown enthroned upon a cubic seat, wearing the tall White Crown of Upper Egypt and a close-fitting robe, with his hands resting upon his lap in a formal ceremonial pose. The statue, based on the celebrated Oxford Ashmolean Museum original, is rendered with careful attention to archaic sculptural detail, set against a plain, deeply mirrored proof field. The border of the coin features a segmented decorative band of alternating raised rectangles and dashes encircling the entire design. No inscriptions or legends appear on this face.
