Egypt's National Police Day on January 25th has been commemorated officially since the 1950s, anchored to the 1952 Ismailia incident in which British forces killed dozens of Egyptian police officers who refused to surrender their weapons — an event that directly ignited the Cairo Fire and accelerated the collapse of the monarchy months later. The fiftieth anniversary of that moment is what this coin marks.
