Obverse description Portrait of King George VI in uniform within an oval intaglio vignette at left, flanked by intricate guilloche rosettes and ornamental lacework underprint in brown. A large sterling pound symbol with the numeral 5 appears at right within an elaborate scrollwork panel, with the serial number repeated at lower left and right. The date and signature of the Chairman of the Commissioners of Currency appear in manuscript across the centre.

Reverse description The Jamaican coat of arms is engraved at top centre, flanked symmetrically by two large £5 denomination panels set within elaborate guilloche lacework frames in brown and olive tones. Two rectangular tablet panels at the base of each frame carry the denomination inscription in bold letterpress. The overall design is balanced and formal, with intricate geometric underprint filling the field.
