Obverse description Left-facing profile portrait of King George VI set within an ornate intaglio-engraved cartouche surmounted by a royal crown, flanked by foliate and scrollwork ornaments, at left. Centre carries the bold red intaglio title "THE GOVERNMENT OF THE FALKLAND ISLANDS" above the legal tender clause, a red denomination panel inscribed "FIVE POUNDS" with the "£5" cypher at right, the date "20th February 1951", and the manuscript signature of the Commissioner of Currency. Serial number printed in black at upper right and lower left within a pale green guilloche underprint border.

Reverse description The entire reverse is occupied by a large, centrally placed rose-salmon intaglio guilloche vignette of elliptical form, composed of interlocking lathe-work rosettes and foliate scrollwork radiating from a central geometric knot pattern, surrounded by acanthus leaves and floral ornaments, all printed on an unprinted white paper ground.
