Obverse description The fifth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, depicting a mature crowned bust wearing the George IV State Diadem with diamond and pearl settings. The portrait, modelled by Jody Clark, is rendered in high relief against a polished field. The sovereign's initials 'J.C' appear below the truncation. The encircling legend bearing the royal titles and denomination runs continuously around the periphery in Latin.

Reverse description A Yeoman Warder of the Tower of London is depicted in full dress uniform, standing erect and facing three-quarters left, bearing his ceremonial partisan axe upright before him. The figure is set against a detailed architectural backdrop depicting a section of the Tower of London's medieval curtain wall along Mint Street, rendered in high relief. The engraver's initials 'GD' for Glyn Davies appear to the right of the figure. The legend 'TOWER OF LONDON' arcs above the composition in capital letters.
