Obverse lettering ELIZABETH II·D·G·REG·FID·DEF·5 POUNDS· J.C
(Translation: Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith)
Reverse description The White Horse of Hanover rearing on its hind legs in a dynamic, sculptural pose, occupying the central field. The horse supports a quartered heraldic shield bearing the arms of the United Kingdom as used during the Hanoverian period, with charges including three passant guardant lions, fleurs-de-lis, a harp, and the white horse of Hanover itself in the fourth quarter. The engraver's initials JC appear to the lower right of the shield. The date 2021 is divided by the horse's mane in the upper field, and the legend WHITE HORSE OF HANOVER arcs around the lower periphery. The mirror-like proof fields accentuate the deeply sculpted, frosted relief of the beast and heraldic device.
