Obverse description The fifth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark dominates the obverse, depicting a right-facing crowned bust of the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem, with a drop earring visible at the neck. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail in the hair and crown jewels, characteristic of the Clark effigy introduced in 2015. The circular legend reads ELIZABETH II·D·G·REG·F·D·5 POUNDS·2016, distributed around the periphery, with the engraver's initials J.C. incuse below the truncation. The mirrored proof field provides strong contrast against the frosted devices.

Reverse description The reverse features a vivid coloured depiction of the Snowdonia mountain landscape, believed to represent the view of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) and the surrounding cwm, rendered in naturalistic grey, blue, and white tones applied over a sculpted relief field. Rugged rocky foreground formations in the lower portion give way to steep, snow-streaked mountain slopes rising to a sharply defined summit peak occupying the upper centre of the design. A still body of water at the base of the mountain reflects the scene, evoking the glacial lakes characteristic of the national park. The inscription SNOWDONIA is arched along the upper field in a serif typeface, with the designers' initials GD LC discreetly placed within the composition. The design was created by Glyn Davies and Laura Clancy as part of the Royal Mint's UK Landmarks series.
