| 背面描述 | Central design depicts Sir Winston Churchill standing at a podium, raising his right hand in the iconic V for Victory gesture, set within a shield-shaped cartouche. A commemorative medallion appears at the base of the cartouche inscribed COMMEMORATION with the dates 1945 and 2005 flanking the initials WW. The surrounding legend reads 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF LIBERATION - 9TH MAY 1945 and AND OUR DEAR CHANNEL ISLANDS ARE ALSO TO BE FREED TODAY, the latter being a direct quotation from Churchill's VE Day speech. The denomination FIVE POUNDS appears in the lower exergue, all executed in frosted relief against mirror-polished proof fields. |

Issued on the sixtieth anniversary of VE Day, this Alderney crown carries particular weight given the island's history: Alderney was the only British territory where the Germans constructed concentration camps during the Second World War, and its civilian population had been almost entirely evacuated in 1940. Churchill's decision to leave the Channel Islands undefended — accepting occupation rather than expending resources on an indefensible position — remains one of the more coldly pragmatic calls of his wartime leadership.
