Tristan da Cunha is the most remote permanently inhabited archipelago on Earth, lying roughly 2,400 kilometres from the nearest landmass. Its coins are issued under British administration and have no domestic circulation function whatsoever — the island runs on a barter-adjacent economy with a population under 250. Every piece struck in its name is produced entirely for the philatelic and numismatic export market, with the Royal Mint or contracted private mints handling production on the island's behalf.
