| 正面铭文 | ELIZABETH II BAILIWICK OF GUERNSEY IRB 2008 |
| 背面描述 | Three male royal figures dressed in military uniform are depicted in half-length portrait, facing forward in the lower portion of the field, evoking the connection between the British Royal Family and the Royal Air Force. Above them, a detailed rendering of a biplane in flight occupies the centre of the field. The arc legend HISTORY OF THE ROYAL AIR FORCE runs along the left and upper periphery, while the secondary inscription ROYALTY AND THE RAF appears in two lines within the upper field beneath the aircraft. The denomination FIVE POUNDS is displayed in a ribbon scroll along the lower exergue. |

Guernsey's commemorative five-pound program has leaned heavily on British royal and military themes since the 1990s, largely because the island's dependency status gives it striking rights while the subject matter costs nothing in licensing — the Crown is the Crown. This particular issue appeared during the RAF's buildup toward its centenary commemorations, a cycle of institutional self-promotion that generated a substantial run of numismatic products across multiple British and Crown Dependency mints between roughly 2007 and 2018.
Copper-nickel strikes in this series were produced alongside silver proof versions; the base metal edition was aimed squarely at the collector gift market rather than circulation.
