The Royal National Lifeboat Institution celebrated its bicentenary in 2024, but commemorative issues began appearing ahead of that anniversary. Roy Barker I was an Arun-class lifeboat that served the RNLI for decades, a workhorse design that became one of the most operationally successful self-righting hulls the institution ever deployed. Alderney, dependent on the Channel Island waters and acutely aware of maritime rescue, has issued RNLI-themed commemoratives with some regularity.
