Jersey's annual Remembrance issues are struck under the authority of the States of Jersey and sold primarily through the Royal Mint's collector distribution network. This 2016 piece was released to coincide with the centenary commemorations of the Somme — the battle that killed or wounded over a million men in roughly five months and remains the bloodiest campaign in British military history.
The gold plating here is decorative, not monetary. Jersey's legal tender face values on collector issues bear no relationship to production cost or precious metal content.
