Reverse description A regal portrait of Queen Elizabeth I faces right at centre, rendered in high relief by engraver Rod Kelly, commemorating the 450th anniversary of her accession. The central effigy is framed by four Tudor roses positioned at the cardinal points of a series of connecting decorative arches, evoking the heraldic and architectural motifs of the Elizabethan era. The surrounding legend bears the Latin inscription ELIZABETH REGINA, flanked by the dates MDLVIII and MMVIII denoting the span 1558 to 2008.
