| 背面描述 | The reverse depicts a railway engineman or locomotive preparer standing to the right of a large spoked driving wheel of a steam locomotive, reaching upward with both arms in the act of servicing or oiling the engine. Railroad tracks recede into the background beneath the wheel, conveying depth and industrial atmosphere. The denomination legend FIVE POUNDS is inscribed vertically along the right rim in raised Latin capitals. The overall composition celebrates the heritage of British steam railway engineering. |

Alderney has issued commemorative crowns under its own authority since 1993, despite having no independent monetary system — the coins are legal tender nominally but exist almost entirely for the collector market. This piece marks the 200th anniversary of Richard Trevithick's 1804 steam locomotive at Merthyr Tydfil, the first full-scale working railway steam engine to haul a load on rails. Trevithick won a bet of 500 guineas with that run.
